Building alginate

Exactly what it says on the tin – step by step photographic instructions for building an alginate molecule, should you ever wish to! Alginate is one of our favourite molecules – it comes from seaweed and has some interesting properties – particularly it’s ability to bind metal cations in an ‘egg-box’ array.
